Foraging

Foraging Basics
Licenses:
Not needed for fruits and vegetables, Discover Pass may be needed for some parking
Equipment:
Emergency backpack if foraging in wooded areas, identification books, knife, containers, proper clothing for outing, first aid kit, harvesting calendar, notes, companion
When/Where:
Refer to your outdoor calendar or reference books and notes. Remember that if you see fruit falling to the ground in your neighborhood, ask neighbor if you can harvest. During harvest time, trucks often spill useable vegetables at the same locations
Notes:
When you harvest more than you can use, foodbanks are in need-tax deductions.
Reminder:
Take friends with you when you know locations with abundant food
