Snow Play
by Roger Urbaniak
The Basics to Playing in the Snow
Equipment
Varies depending on how you want to play. Sleds, discs, snowshoes, skis, snowboard, boots, and warm clothes. A Sno-Park pass and Discover Pass may be needed.
Licenses
Lift tickets, Sno-Park pass, Discover Pass.
Options
If you like crowds, try visiting the ski areas. If you prefer solitude, visit groomed trails with parking (see Sno-Park online) or make your own path. Hiking groups from summer often switch to snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter if you want company — they usually know great trails you might miss on your own. When it snows locally, you can also consider a hill at a park or even a steep street for your disc.
Variety of Activities
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleds & toboggans, drone flying, hiking, animal tracking, birdwatching, hunting, photography, fishing.
